Long, cocoon-style dress by junya watanabe comme des garcons, from AW1996 collection. Made from unusual brown wool fabric with irregular, mottled finish (likely garment-dyed after construction), dress has intricately-panelled construction, with shaped shoulders (see picture 7) and darting at bust and underarms. Combination of shoulder shape and cape-like slit opening for arms creates almost shawl-like effect at the back when dress is worn.

In addition to general irregularity of fabric, three brown satin panels (made from rayon) have been inserted into the dress from about the waist down.
